Ethical brand One Water have launched an incentive which will see the eight top-sellers in World Duty Free stores over June and July will earn a place on a trip to Malawi.
For every bottle of One Water sold, a donation is made to The One Foundation, funding clean water projects in Africa and all around the world. Since the start of the partnership in 2006, World Duty Free has raised more than £2.7 million.
To promote One Water and the incentive, One Water Founder Duncan Goose is visiting 14 high-footfall branches of World Duty Free stores in UK airports and at Eurotunnel Folkestone, covering a distance of 2,000 miles on his Honda Africa Twin motorcycle.
World Duty Free has been one of The One Foundation’s main commercial supporters, selling the charity’s bottled One Water and branded jute bags in all of its UK airport stores since 2006. World Duty Free’s donation has helped to bring clean, safe water to 403,259 people in Africa.
Sales staff will be further supported with branded One Water t-shirts and in-store sales display units to clearly communicate to World Duty Free customers what every purchase of One Water means to The One Foundation.
Funds from the foundation achieved via World Duty Free sales have been donated to rehabilitate water points and to bring water access back into communities and have particularly impacted work in Malawi’s rural communities, where farmers are working to grow sufficient crops to feed themselves and their families.
Donations have also funded the provision of gravity-fed and solar pumping systems, meaning that clean water is now readily available in schools and health clinics.
Cyclones have impacted areas of Malawi over the last three years, washing away houses and crops, and contaminating water points, so the funds that continue to be raised are vital, to help communities recover and regenerate.
Avolta UK Commercial Director, Eve Fifer commented:
“As a company we are committed to supporting The One Foundation and the vital work they do, and our World Duty Free store staff are all extremely passionate about the brand and the projects the funding supports. For the duration of the campaign our entire UK business will be engaged in actively promoting the brand and its charitable giving to the thousands of travelers who visit our stores during the busy summer month of June.”
The Malawi trip will take place in November and will include all flights, food and accommodation. Attendees will meet NGOs that The One Foundation work with and visit key sites in which change has been implemented, with some traditional Malawian hospitality thrown in too, as well as a visit to a stunning National Park.
