Runnymede Distribution Centre

Our Runnymede Distribution Centre is a critical hub in our operations, serving as the primary distribution point for products destined for World Duty Free stores across the UK. Located in Egham, not far from Heathrow Airport, Runnymede is strategically positioned close to major transport links, allowing for efficient distribution to airports and other retail locations.

Runnymede handles a vast range of products, including luxury goods, cosmetics, fragrances, alcohol and tobacco. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year – making sure that all our shops are fully stocked and ready to sell to World Duty Free customers every day.

We employ over 250 staff at Runnymede, all playing a key role in delivering exceptional service to our customers. Some of our roles include Warehouse Team Members, Loader Drivers, Drivers, Shift Leaders, Warehouse System Users and Administrators.

We have a comprehensive development program for our teams, starting with basic training for all new starters and going through to management progression. All our administrators are trained internally, 20% of our leaders are developed from the warehouse team and we have trained some of our warehouse team to become Loader Drivers, helping them to obtain LGV licences. We have also had some of our Leaders transfer to retail and head office roles, sometimes at the same level and often as a promotion.

Important Information

Runnymede is a restricted access site which means you will be escorted at all times once inside the secure area. Please keep personal belongings to a minimum as no bags are permitted to be taken into the warehouse. The site is not served by public transport so you will need to travel by car.

Parking

Free parking is available on site, once you arrive at the barrier press the intercom and you will be connected to Security. Please provide them with your name and reason for your visit and they will raise the barrier.

Things to know about working at Runnymede Distribution Centre

As you’ll be working in an airside environment, you’ll need to be security cleared before you can start work. This can take 6-12 weeks from when you’re offered a role. We manage this process for you and will have checked your basic details prior to interview, so the chances are this will all go smoothly.

You’ll need to pass through security scanners each time you arrive for work (it’s just like when at the airport, including the same liquid restrictions) – this can take around 30 minutes. You need to incorporate getting through Security into your travel time. Once inside, there are a few key guidelines to ensure our operations run smoothly and securely. For instance, high-visibility vests and safety shoes are worn at all times, and ID passes are always displayed.

To keep our environment secure, mobile phones, bags, watches and most jewellery stay in lockers. Plus, anything we sell or stock must be declared before bringing it into the warehouse. This attention to detail ensures that every day at Runnymede is not only safe but also compliant.
