Lowfield Heath Distribution Centre

Our Lowfield Heath Distribution Centre is a critical hub in our operations, serving as the central point for distributing products to World Duty Free stores across the UK. Strategically located near Gatwick Airport and close to major transport links, the facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, ensuring our shops are fully stocked with a wide range of products, including luxury goods, cosmetics, fragrances, alcohol, and tobacco.

The Distribution Centre manages six inter-site deliveries daily, two deliveries to Dover five days a week, and one delivery to St Pancras every day. On average, the team picks 960,000 units and receives 940,000 units each week, making Lowfield Heath essential to maintaining the flow of goods to our retail locations.

We’re always looking to grow our team of around 100 people by recruiting Shift Leaders, Warehouse Team Members, Drivers, and Admin Assistants. If you’re keen to learn how to use equipment such as forklifts, pump trucks, skyjacks and compactors, then we’d love to hear from you! Our team is highly social, with plenty of opportunities to connect through events and activities outside of work. It’s a fun, collaborative environment to be part of.

We have a comprehensive development program for our teams, starting with basic training for all new starters and going through to management progression. All our administrators are trained internally, 20% of our leaders are developed from the warehouse team and we have trained some of our warehouse team to become Loader Drivers, helping them to obtain LGV licences. We have also had some of our Leaders transfer to retail and head office roles, sometimes at the same level and often as a promotion.

Arriving by Car

From the A23 head towards Gatwick North Terminal. At the roundabout before the terminal, take the first exit which is a filter lane and turn left onto Perimeter Road North and bear left to the traffic lights – turn right here onto A23 London Road. After 1.1 miles at the roundabout take the second exit onto London Road. At the next roundabout take the third exit onto Old Brighton Road South, go straight over the mini roundabout and the Lowfield Heath entrance is the last on the left hand side before you reach the Perimeter Road South (the sign outside states Gatwick Gate Industrial Estate). Please note that the postcode will take you to the rear of the building so please follow the above instructions when coming to the building or alternatively (if you are using a Sat Nav) head for the Radisson Red Hotel RH11 0PQ – then facing the Perimeter Road, we are the last green gate on the left.
On arrival, please call the number on the gate and someone will come to let you in.

Parking

Parking is available on site. The gate will be locked so you’ll need to call the number of the gate and the Yard Person will direct you where to park. You’ll be issued with a Parking Permit which much be displayed on your windscreen.

Arriving by Bus

By bus from Gatwick South Terminal (for arrivals by train or other means directly into the Airport): from Arrivals, go down the stairwell next to Costa Coffee which will direct you towards the bus stops and Ashdown House. Go to the ground floor and the bus stops are outside on the right hand side, you will need to use the underpass to cross over the road and get either bus number 4, 5 or 100 which will cost £2.50. The bus takes 3 minutes to get to Lowfield Heath roundabout – this is the stop to disembark from, please take care when crossing the road at this junction. Walk down Old Brighton Road South for approximately 7 minutes and the entrance to Lowfield Heath is the last one on the left hand side. When entering through the main gate on foot, please keep to the pathway on the left hand side and walk through the car park, do not go to the right of the gated area as this is where the lorries and forklift trucks regularly manoeuvre. On arrival, please call the number on the gate and someone will come to let you in.

Arriving by Train

By Train once at Gatwick Airport: make your way to the main train station concourse and follow the signs to the internal shuttle service (do not board the shuttle). As you are facing the shuttle, on your left you will see an elevator, take this down to the ground floor. Here you will need to catch the Metro Bus Service (Bus Service No, 5 or 100) to the Lowfield Roundabout Stop. When entering through the main gate on foot, please keep to the pathway on the left hand side and walk through the car park, do not go to the right of the gated area as this is where the lorries and forklift trucks regularly manoeuvre. On arrival, please call the number on the gate and someone will come to let you in.

Things to know about working at Lowfield Heath

As you’ll be working in an airside environment, you’ll need to be security cleared before you can start work. This can take 6-12 weeks from when you’re offered a role. We manage this process for you and will have checked your basic details prior to interview, so the chances are this will all go smoothly.

You’ll need to pass through security scanners each time you arrive for work (it’s just like when at the airport, including the same liquid restrictions) – this can take around 30 minutes. You need to incorporate getting through Security into your travel time. Once inside, there are a few key guidelines to ensure our operations run smoothly and securely. For instance, high-visibility vests and safety shoes are worn at all times, and ID passes are always displayed.

To keep our environment secure, mobile phones, bags, watches and most jewellery stay in lockers. Plus, anything we sell or stock must be declared before bringing it into the warehouse. This attention to detail ensures that every day at Lowfield Heath is not only safe but also compliant.
