Located just over 6 miles southeast of Birmingham City Centre, Birmingham Airport is the UK’s third-largest airport outside London. With around 50 airlines, including Emirates, Turkish Airlines, and Swiss, it served 11.5 million passengers in 2023, reflecting a nearly 20% increase from the previous year.

The airport boasts an extensive catchment area, with 70% of the UK population within a two-hour drive and more direct rail connections than any other European city, making it the country’s best-connected airport.

At Birmingham Airport, we operate three diverse stores featuring a range of global brands such as Lancôme, Benefit, Clinique, Swarovski, Ray-Ban, and Oakley. Our offerings include a specialist World of Whisky department, a Pandora store, and a Best of British area showcasing souvenirs and local favorites like Cadbury’s. You’ll meet a member of the World Duty Free staff outside Costa of the Terminal Building just before Security.

Bus or Train

Birmingham Airport is directly connected to over 100 towns and cities via Birmingham International Station and the free ‘Air-Rail Link’ monorail system. The Air-Rail Link is free and operates between 05:15 and 02:00 daily. Rail services operate regularly from Birmingham International. Please check train times beforehand and leave in plenty of time in case of any delays.

Driving

As Birmingham Airport is so well served by public transport, we don’t recommend parking on site. Your cost of travel and parking is not reimbursed.

Things to know about working at Birmingham

As you’ll be working airside, you’ll need to be security cleared before you can start work. This can take 6-12 weeks from when you’re offered a role. We manage this process for you and will have checked your basic details prior to interview, so the chances are this will all go smoothly.

You’ll need to pass through airport Security each time you arrive for work (it’s just like going on holiday!) – this can take around 30 minutes. You need to incorporate getting through security into your travel time.
